We currently have two Assistant Residential Counselor positions available at our Nichols home located in Norwood, MA.

Position 1:
Yearly Income: $47,155, 40 hours (full time)

  • Thursday 12pm to 10pm (10 hours)
  • Friday 12pm to 10pm (10 hours)
  • Saturday 12pm to 8am (20 hours)

The Role

As an Assistant Residential Counselor at Lifeworks, you will provide direct supports to the people we serve, teach and provide activities of daily living, and support inclusion. You will have the ability to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will be based in a beautiful home in the suburban town of Westwood, MA, and receive a $2,000 staff retention bonus shortly after joining our family.

We’re Looking For

We’re searching for an enthusiastic individual who brings personality, an independent work ethic, strong belief in enhancing the lives of those we serve, and strong teamwork skills to join us as an Assistant Residential Counselor. You pay attention to details, stay organized, and exercise good judgment in challenging situations. If yes, you might be the perfect fit for our team.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with an exceptional team to plan and engage in fun activities. Help individuals lead more independent and secure lives in their community. Provide support through case management, life skills coaching, and advocacy.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes optimal health for individuals through routine, preventive, and emergency health care.
  • Responsible for assisting with all hands-on direct care which includes showering, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, and meal-time assistance.
  • Ensures that residential environments are safe and secure and where individuals are free from harm.
  • Provide education, training, counseling, and physical assistance when necessary to achieve ISP goals in functional academics, domestic skills health and personal hygiene, social and leisure skills, communication skills, community mobility, self-esteem, and money management.
  • Develop, write and present annual ISPs and semi-annual assessments in consultation with other residential staff and directors.
  • transportation to individuals as necessary.
  • Communicate with persons significant to the individual served to facilitate consistency of programming and support.
  • Performs case management duties including maintaining individual confidential files, ensuring cases are reviewed, documenting activities, and training.
