Machinist B - 2nd Shift

SUMMARY

Performs machine operations including programming and operation of CNC milling machines or the manual set-up and operation of any machine tools and other similar duties to produce components and container support structure.

• Sets up and operates CNC machines from part specifications sheet.
• Determines and selects appropriate tooling, reviews and edits program as necessary.
• Manually program Bridgeport-type machines from blueprints.
• Determines appropriate set-up fixture. Make modifications as necessary to ensure proper operation.
• Locate parts, tools, sets up and starts operation.
• Performs and operations such as deburring as time allows.
• Instruct lower-level machine operators and machinists as required.
• Maintain established quality and quantity standards.
• Follows prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision.
• Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Maintains daily production and other records as required.
• Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 3 year's experience CNC/Bridgeport-type machine operation.
• Ability to measure with vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges.

• CNC Programming

• Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
• Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
• Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime in the evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
• Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40pounds.
• This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
