Job SummaryOur partner is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our precision machine shop. This individual will be responsible for managing personnel, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement. The Machine Shop Manager will lead a team that includes approximately 20 staff.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the machine shop across both shifts to ensure production schedules are met.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team consisting of approximately 20 people.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and planning departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products.
- Maintain and enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Monitor machine utilization and efficiency; identify and resolve bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Lead efforts in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.
- Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and coordinate with maintenance personnel as needed.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including quality, on‑time delivery, and productivity.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for shop personnel.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in a precision machine shop environment with 5 or more years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and polishing processes.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
- Proven leadership, team building, and employee development skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Technical degree or certification in manufacturing, machining, or related field.
- Experience in semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, or high‑tech industries.
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
