Overview

Director of Nursing role at Community Health Programs, Inc. (CHP). CHP is a nonprofit network of health centers providing primary and preventive care for patients of all ages, with a broad spectrum of support services. The organization operates in a federally designated rural community and Medically Underserved Population Area.

Director of Nursing — Full-Time, Exempt

Location

Great Barrington, MA — CHP Administrative Offices

Salary

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Oversee nursing and clinical support functions and delegate patient care activities within scope of practice.
  • Provide leadership to ensure quality, cost-effective care that meets medical standards and complies with regulatory requirements across CHP sites.
  • Recruitment, retention, training, competency assessment, and regulatory compliance for nursing and clinical support functions at all CHP care sites and departments.
  • Lead nursing and clinical support policy development and ensure adherence to CHP policies and procedures.
  • Act as CHP’s expert on state scope of practice regulations to enable staff to function at the top of their license/certification.
  • Develop nurse visit templates and nurse-driven clinical protocols; establish standing orders in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Direct supervision of Infection Control and Staff Safety, and oversee infection control activities with site Clinical Supervisors.
  • Ensure continuing education requirements for nursing staff are met; provide in-service training opportunities.
  • Support organizational quality initiatives (e.g., ACO initiatives, clinical workflows, documentation).
  • Engage with community, state, and professional organizations to enhance CHP’s visibility and performance.
  • Provide direct patient services when appropriate and ensure proper functioning of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Lead Employee Infection Control/Safety programs, including vaccine clinics and workers’ compensation cases.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in ambulatory care nursing required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ management/administrative experience in a health care setting required.
  • Solid understanding of quality improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and budgetary management skills.
Education and Training
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN required; MSN preferred
License/Certification
  • Current nursing license in the State of Massachusetts.
  • Current Basic Life Support/CPR Certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Reference: Clinical Support Staff ADA requirements.
