Job Description

The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students aged 16‑24 with free hands‑on vocational training and the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or equivalent. As a Residential Advisor, you will support the students’ academic and personal development in the dormitory setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to students ensuring positive group living relations and achievement in the Job Corps program.
  • Assist students in maintaining a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and help them achieve goals.
  • Arrange student visits to counseling when appropriate.
  • Assist in unit activities, including unit government.
  • Patrol and monitor dormitories and the center, ensuring safety and proper behavior; resolve problems that arise.
  • Prepare daily operational reports, pass lists, and other administrative correspondence.
  • Direct students and assist with cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
  • Recommend or requisition supplies needed for dorm living and student safety.
  • Maintain dormitory and individual student files; ensure they are complete, updated, and contain required documentation.
  • Enter student case notes into the center information system.
  • Participate in career development services, ensuring a safe living environment and mentoring students.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, group sessions and independent living skills training.
  • Work overtime when directed.
  • Maintain reliable attendance.
  • Deliver quality customer service to students, staff and other center customers.
  • Support, promote and enforce the Job Corps Zero‑Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote career‑success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors and monitoring behaviors through interventions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of Job Corps or related program experience.
  • Valid in‑state driver’s license preferred.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, lift up to 40 pounds and assess lift load to request assistance.
