Shift: Wednesday–Saturday 7:00 pm–5:30 am.
The Roadside Service Tech Flatbed is responsible for providing safe and best‑in‑class roadside solutions for AAA members while ensuring positive member experiences in a tow‑ or flatbed vehicle. Flatbed Technicians respond to member requests for service within a given ETA, ensuring personal safety, member safety, and vehicle security, educating members on possible issues, providing jump starts, replacing flat tires, presenting vehicle entries and other related services.
If necessary, they tow disabled vehicles to repair facilities or member‑requested destinations. They promote AAA products and services and ensure complete resolution of member issues.
Compensation: $24 / hour base pay, plus full benefits & incentive pay. Additional $2.75 per hour overnight differential on hours worked between 10 pm and 6 am. Additional $1.75 per hour evening differential for hours worked between 6 pm and 10 pm. Additional $1 per hour differential for working weekend hours. Differentials can be combined.
What You Will Do- Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination. Locate members and greet them to address their emotional state (calming angry members, reassuring fearful or anxious members) while handling technical aspects.
- Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained and equipped) and towing service. Diagnose probable causes of breakdowns, determine best course of action, and seek assistance if uncertain. Perform battery boosts and follow safety procedures.
- Maintain AAA high standard of service and image by keeping service vehicle and equipment in safe working order, maintaining inventory of tools, and adhering to traffic and motor vehicle laws. Represent the AAA brand professionally.
- Promote AAA products and services, educate members on battery replacement, and coordinate with Dispatch to get members to intended destinations.
- Work independently with minimal face‑to‑face contact with other team members. Adapt to a variety of shifts to cover a 24/7 operation.
- Take special care to prevent damage and injury when securing vehicles and responding to changing vehicle dynamics.
- Work under pressure, with different traffic, weather, or busy conditions.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 21 years of age required.
- Post‑secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity with electrical troubleshooting required.
- Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction required.
- DOT card pre‑hire and current employee within 1 year required.
- Satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre‑hire screening and periodically during employment.
