Job DescriptionDYS is seeking a General Activities Therapist 2 to work at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility. The role involves planning, conducting, implementing, and monitoring a variety of recreational, personal development, structured therapeutic, and entertainment activities for youth.
Responsibilities- Plans, conducts, implements, and monitors general recreational, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for youth.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team and analyzes, assesses, evaluates, defines and recommends group and/or individual treatment goals and activities.
- Observes participants during activities.
- Serves in an instructional capacity for youth.
- Prepares and maintains reports for the treatment team regarding individual behavior and progress concerning individual recreational program activities.
- Maintains inventory records of equipment, tools, and materials.
- Prepares weekly activity schedule.
- 30 months of experience with coaching, personal training, & or fitness instruction OR 30 months of experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons & training & or development.
- OR completion of an associate degree in recreation; 12 months of experience in activity therapy or recreation.
- OR completion of an undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 months of experience in activity therapy or recreation.
- OR 6 months of experience as a General Activities Therapist 1 (44211).
- OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
