ResponsibilitiesPackaging Machine Operator
12 hour shifts Day and Night available
Hourly Rate $21.01 - shift premium for night shift
Dedication, Dependability, and a Willingness to learn are a must. The PMO will be responsible for running, changing over, and ensuring the efficiency and quality of 3–5 packaging machines. They will communicate changes and plans to team members in the immediate area and supervision. A required set of tasks will be performed on a computer at specific times throughout the shift.
As a PMO, job duties include but are not limited to the set‑up and operation of packaging equipment, following precise recipes and work procedures, monitoring and adjusting variables, performing product quality tests, and data collection. The PMO must also react to direction from quality assurance and management personnel. PMOs will be exposed to allergens, chemicals, extreme equipment and temperatures. They will be expected to multi‑task and prioritize throughout the day and use hand tools.
What you Bring to the Table:
- Leadership – The PMO will set the example for the line, follow all policies and procedures, work well with others, and demonstrate Shearer's core values of Respect, Teamwork, and Giving Back.
- Troubleshooting Skills – Must have the ability to work through problems to find root causes and address issues for mechanical and automation equipment. 2–5 years machine operator or maintenance apprentice experience preferred.
- Computer Skills – Must have basic computer skills required to run production. Verifications on the computer will be done routinely throughout the day.
- Time Management – Must effectively manage their own time, perform quality verifications at specific intervals, complete changeovers in allotted time, and plan breaks around lulls in activity.
- Flexibility – The PMO may need to be flexible during the training period and be available for pre‑shift meetings when applicable. Must be able to work weekends and overtime when needed.
Physical Demands – The PMO must be able to move, twist, or lift up to 60 lbs. and team lift 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be on their feet for 12+ hours and keep up with a fast, repetitive pace, including repetitive lifting.
