General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate performs a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks when necessary.

Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors and prioritize safety at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor, keep egress clear, and report unsafe conditions to store leadership.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello.
  • Assist customers (register‑trained) and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, involving store leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor in a timely manner, merchandising items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand loss prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow mark‑out‑of‑stock policies and cash handling procedures, maintaining accuracy with bankable tenders.

Qualifications & Special Skills
  • Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100 percent of working time.
  • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Other assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
