American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring NC or compact RN license and telemetry certification.

• Work in a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit with an emphasis in Bariatrics and Orthopedics
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Target ratios of 1:5-7, which may fluctuate based on unit needs or surge
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 3x per week
• 36 or 48 hours per week may be offered
• Floating required
• Weekend requirement of 2-3 weekends in a 6-week period
• Uses PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR, and Voalte systems

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, IV Start, and Telemetry
• ACLS certification preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and non-invasive airway management required
• Must maintain hand hygiene compliance of 75%
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Provide 24-hour inpatient medical-surgical care with a focus on bariatric and orthopedic patients
• Unit orientation is 36 hours and travelers must be available all week during week one for hospital orientation
• Scrubs not provided; navy, white, or a combination of the two required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted within 50 miles, at a lower rate
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure and facility approval required
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate transportation
• Pre-start modules required (8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annually
