Overview
Combination Pipe Welder (Fabrication Shop) at Century Contractors, LLC. We are currently searching for Pipe Welders to work in our Fabrication Shop.
Responsibilities- Selects equipment, plans layouts, assembles, and welds, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, welding techniques, and weld shrinkage.
- Layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components in various body positions and locations; identify all equipment for job and process.
- Legibly document all weld information and create legible weld maps.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or arc gas welding equipment.
- Identify all safety risks and requirements.
- Perform Stick and TIG welding on pipe.
- Read blueprints, interpret technical manuals and other engineering drawings to perform work efficiently.
- Have thorough knowledge of various metals and the welding processes required, including effects of welding on the material.
- Weld multiple types of pipe including carbon steel, stainless, and chrome.
- Assist pipe fitters in pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication when not actively welding.
- Maintain reliable transportation and be able to work at heights as required.
- Meet all physical requirements and have all necessary tools at start date.
- Must have 4+ years of experience welding on industrial size and grade pipe (Schedules 40, 80, and 160).
- Proficient in welding in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings; interpret manuals and other engineering documents.
- Experience welding pipe types including carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome.
- Must be able to assist pipe fitters in installation and fabrication when not welding.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work at heights and meet physical requirements.
- Must have all required tools at start date.
- Must identify safety risks and follow safety requirements; use all required PPE.
Work in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties with exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather. Safely access all areas of properties, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, and elevated positions; work in confined spaces. Lift up to 50 pounds. Perform strenuous physical tasks and operate all involved equipment and tools. Stand for long periods; bend, work in confined spaces, climb ladders or lift equipment in personnel lifts, and work in awkward body positions.
