Packaging Operator - Night Shift

Job Description

Perform duties on a 4x7 rotational basis, working 12‑hour shifts in the packaging area of the plant.

• Operate lines and run to schedule, perform changeovers, troubleshoot lines.
• Maintain smooth operation of palletizer.
• Perform required quality checks and reporting.
• Monitor product flow to line.
• Meet cut‑off and tonnage requirements.
• Enter work orders into the MIS system as needed and support maintenance on calls.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
• Actively address food safety and quality concerns.
• Improve operations through individual and group problem solving and provide leadership in solving problems on the floor and in meetings.
• Promote a high‑quality team environment through effective teamwork and self‑management with a positive attitude.

• Hours of work: 6 pm – 6:30 am.
• Shift: 12‑hour 2/2/3 schedule.

• Develop and manage self, demonstrate self‑directed work‑group leadership, and contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost optimization with minimal supervision.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work rotating shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs.

• High School diploma or equivalent plus 1–2 years’ experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
• Good basic math, reading, and writing skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Basic knowledge of personal computers.
• Good problem‑solving skills.
• Good housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMPs.
• Participate in site JTM’s, Lean Teams, and focus groups as appropriate.
• Train other area associates in operation of lines.
• Ability to cover vacations for other packaging associates in this role.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is USD 19.84 – USD 27.28 (IL). Variable pay, medical and dental benefits, 401(k), and paid time off are included in the total compensation package.
