Non-Profit & Social Impact
For more than 75 years, Sunshine Communities has kept a simple promise. Every person, whatever their abilities, deserves a life full of friends, purpose, and belonging. Sunshine Communities is a faith-based nonprofit serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Today Sunshine supports 281 people. They live in campus and community homes, take part in day and job programs, and work in local shops.
Sunshine is also the only provider in Northwest Ohio for people with disabilities who need a ventilator to breathe.
Sunshine is ready for its next leader. Operations have grown stronger over the past three years, leading to one of the best performances in the organization’s history in 2025. A caring, long-serving team knows the people it serves by name, and staff retention has improved significantly since 2020. The next CEO will build on this strong base. They will guide Sunshine through a changing funding world, shape its next strategic plan, and lead with both heart and discipline.
WhyLead Sunshine
This is a rare chance to lead a beloved organization with a proud history, a devoted team, and a bright future. The next CEO will honor 75 years of promises kept and write the next chapter of Sunshine’s story.
Sunshine’s work happens in many places: on the Maumee campus, in 15 community homes across Lucas and Wood counties, in day and job programs, and in Uptown Maumee shops where artists of all abilities share their talents. The next CEO will be a familiar face in each of them, building trust with staff and families one visit at a time. This leader will advocate for legislative change in support of the IDD community as well as build strong, transparent relationships with board members, executive staff, and other partners.
