WhatYou'll Do
The Apprentice Technician will support the manufacturing, assembly, and finishing of production and prototype thermoforming tooling and components. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
- Assisting in the building and hand-finishing/polishing of production and prototype tooling and parts using basic hand and power tools; learning to inspect surface areas throughout the finishing process
- Supporting service and routine maintenance tasks on vacuum forming tools under the guidance of experienced technicians
- Assisting senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair of tooling components
- Learning to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation
- Logging tool maintenance and repair activities in appropriate documentation systems
Participating in process improvement initiatives and contributing to continuous improvement efforts - Supporting CNC machining setup and operations under supervision as necessary
- Assisting in tool changes
- Utilizing carpentry skills to build tooling fixtures and shipping crates
- Assembling and gluing modeling boards for CNC machining
- Assisting in shop maintenance tasks as necessary
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Interest in mechanical systems, tooling, or manufacturing processes
- Willingness to learn from hands-on training and constructive feedback
- Must be proactive and show initiative in taking on and completing projects
- Benchwork and/or tool finishing/polishing experience preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Basic knowledge of power tools and hand tools
- Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing/shop environment
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Frequently reaches, bends, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
