Apprentice Technician

The Apprentice Technician will support the manufacturing, assembly, and finishing of production and prototype thermoforming tooling and components. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

• Assisting in the building and hand-finishing/polishing of production and prototype tooling and parts using basic hand and power tools; learning to inspect surface areas throughout the finishing process
• Supporting service and routine maintenance tasks on vacuum forming tools under the guidance of experienced technicians
• Assisting senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair of tooling components
• Learning to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation
• Logging tool maintenance and repair activities in appropriate documentation systems
  
  Participating in process improvement initiatives and contributing to continuous improvement efforts
• Supporting CNC machining setup and operations under supervision as necessary
• Assisting in tool changes
• Utilizing carpentry skills to build tooling fixtures and shipping crates
• Assembling and gluing modeling boards for CNC machining
• Assisting in shop maintenance tasks as necessary

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Interest in mechanical systems, tooling, or manufacturing processes
• Willingness to learn from hands-on training and constructive feedback
• Must be proactive and show initiative in taking on and completing projects
• Benchwork and/or tool finishing/polishing experience preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Basic knowledge of power tools and hand tools
• Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing/shop environment

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
• Frequently reaches, bends, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
