Position Title:
Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care in a skilled nursing facility. The ADON collaborates with the DON to supervise nursing staff, develop and implement care plans, and maintain regulatory compliance. Additionally, the ADON provides leadership, guidance, and support to nursing personnel to promote a safe and efficient care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and coordinating nursing services to meet resident needs and facility goals.
- Supervise nursing staff, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess resident needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate resident outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing practice, healthcare delivery, and quality assurance.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and protocols related to nursing practice, resident care, and staff performance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data collection, analysis, and implementation of corrective actions to enhance care delivery and resident satisfaction.
- Provide education and training to nursing staff on clinical best practices, regulatory requirements, and facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor nursing documentation practices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards and documentation guidelines.
- Assist with nursing department budget management, resource allocation, and supply inventory control.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, and other healthcare providers, facilitating effective communication and addressing concerns promptly.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, with previous leadership or management experience preferred.
- Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in geriatric nursing, long-term care, and rehabilitation services.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage nursing staff.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to resident-centered care, compassion, and professionalism.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Certification in gerontological nursing or nursing leadership preferred.
