Position Overview
Registered Nurse (RN), Detox Unit – PRN
Employer: Jackson Purchase Medical Center (JPMC), a 107‑bed Joint Commission‑accredited facility located in Mayfield, Western Kentucky.
Job Summary: Provide direct patient care to detox patients using the nursing process, in accordance with scope and standards of practice. Report to the Director or Manager of the Department.
Responsibilities- Assess patients’ health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, therapies, and supportive interventions during detoxification.
- Monitor vital signs and clinical progress, documenting findings accurately.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care.
- Educate patients and families about detox procedures, health behaviors, and discharge planning.
- Maintain infection-control practices and manage exposure to hazardous materials.
- Adhere to regulatory policies and facility protocols for patient safety.
Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Exposure: Regular occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
Qualifications- Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. - License &
Certifications:
Current RN license in the state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
