Supply Chain Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performing supply base for new product development and current production. Leads supplier audits, corrective actions, and development programs to ensure quality standards, continuous improvement, and compliance with company requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Interpret technical drawings and apply GD&T principles.
  • Utilize measurement tools (CMM, gauges, calipers) for quality verification. Mentor and coach supply chain team on quality tools and best practices.
  • Maintain performance scorecards and supplier quality KPIs for all suppliers and communicate results monthly to suppliers and STOBER Supply Chain personnel.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and improve process controls, inspection methods, and quality plans. Collaborate with supply chain team to bring awareness to issues and keep quality in focus.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards, audits, and documentation. Conduct vendor evaluations for risk assessment and mitigation. Maintain eval records.
  • Assess and qualify suppliers for technology, quality systems, and lean practices.
  • Lead supplier improvement initiatives and workshops to optimize workflows.
  • Support APQP and PPAP processes for new or revised components.
  • Train suppliers on quality requirements and compliance standards.
  • Analyze defects and coordinate disposition with suppliers (analysis, rework, credit). Manage defect reporting. Collaborate with suppliers to enhance reliability, cost efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Promote digital tools and ERP integration for supply chain optimization.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean).
  • Travel 20–35% domestically and internationally.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years in supply chain engineering or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in data analytics, ERP systems, and process modeling.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO quality systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and results-driven.
  • Experience with PPAP, statistical techniques, and supplier development.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and travel frequently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
