Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to inspect and report on the property's occupancy status and general condition using a mobile application.
Responsibilities- Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
- Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
- Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in an app.
- Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
- Computer with an internet connection
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus)
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
- Printer
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn an equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and if it is urban or rural you will complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week, with higher rates for lower volume counties.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
