Heavy Equipment Operator
AKITA Drilling Ltd. is seeking a Driller to coordinate crews on oil rigs, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The role involves operating main drilling controls, leading crew meetings on safe work procedures, and supervising operations during rig up/out and daily drilling activities.
Base pay range$39.50/hr - $39.50/hr
Location:
Drilling – (OK). Division: US Drilling Services. Travel: 14/14 or 20/10.

Duties- Lead crew meetings on Safe Work Procedures.
- Supervise crew on shift during various activities as the drilling progresses.
- Follow company procedures for hiring, progressive discipline, and termination.
- Run or assist in running special tools into the hole.
- Continuously monitor for unsafe conditions or acts.
- Report and investigate all accidents on shift with the Rig Manager.
- Document daily activities and drilling progress in the Tour Book.
- Supervise crew during rig up/out operations and assist trucking companies with equipment spotting.
- Provide the Rig Manager with information on parts required and maintain rig supplies.
- Provide on‑the‑job training to all rig personnel in all aspects of operations.
- Operate rig floor controls, drawworks, rotary equipment, and pump; supervise assembly of the drill string.
- Learn and adhere to all Company, Customer, and Government Safety Policies, Procedures, and Regulations.
- Ensure that safety and support equipment functions properly.
- Monitor the progress of the drilling operation and communicate with well‑site supervisors.
- Introduce procedures that may improve crew effectiveness.
- Participate in the supervision of rig mobilization and de‑mobilization (rig‑up and tear‑out).

Position Requirements- Mechanical aptitude.
- At least 2‑3 years of rig‑based drilling experience.
- Active Well Control certificate preferred.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, hard hat, work gloves, chemical apron and gloves, approved respiratory device, face shield, goggles, protective hearing devices, and safety harness.
- Ability to work outdoors with prolonged exposure to hot and cold conditions, and potentially wet or damp environments.
- Reliable transportation and punctual arrival at assigned worksite.
- Willingness to work 14 days on/14 days off or 20 days on/10 days off, including holidays, weekends, and nights.
