Instructional Assistant Professor - Mc Allen
The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University invites applications for one Instructional Assistant Professor position at Texas A&M University's branch campus in McAllen, Texas, to begin in the academic year. This is a full-time, nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. This is an Academic professional track (non-tenure track) position.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in the 4-5 middle grades Math/Science Education program (12 semester hours per semester).
- Assume a typical 90% teaching and 10% service workload; include field observations, liaison and coordination efforts, or other leadership roles as defined by the department.
- Provide advising and serve on undergraduate student committees; participate in service to the profession and scholarly involvement as it relates to teaching responsibilities.
- An earned master’s degree in education or related field with depth of study in a relevant area and significant college/university teaching experience in the field
- Evidence of three or more years of teaching experience in K-12 settings
- Evidence of completion of teacher certification through an accredited program
- Evidence of teaching content aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) or related standards/curricula
- An earned doctorate in education or a related field (ABD considered with demonstrated progress toward completion)
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Experience applying high-impact learning practices at elementary, secondary, and/or postsecondary levels (math education, science education, literacy education, pedagogy)
- Experience applying evidence-based teaching practices in K-12 or teacher education to support all students
- Knowledge of the Rio Grande Valley and the broader South Texas educational/community context
- Engagement in professional development and multiple concurrent service activities within an academic department and/or K-12 school systems
