Field Controls Technician – Georgetown, Tx

Control Panels USA is seeking an experienced Field Controls Technician to join our growing team. The Field Controls Technician is responsible for complete commissioning of hardware at customer sites, including wire terminations, instrument configurations, radio/antenna installation and alignment, and general panel troubleshooting on project field work or service calls. This role will be located at our Georgetown, Tx facility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review assigned the project manager prior to field work.
  • Coordinate and implement required training (
    Safety
    , Instrumentation
    , Controls
    , Site specifics
    ).
  • Gather required information before heading to the site: product literature, material, specification clarification.
  • Utilize template documents for all assigned tasks: parameter list, testing documentation, calibration documentation, daily reports, time sheet, and credit card reconciliation.
  • Update panel schematics for CAD designer to generate as‑built drawings.
  • Generate service tickets and daily reports.
  • Coordinate with project manager for invoicing of assigned service calls.
  • Maintain field tools and test equipment.
  • Maintain good relationships with customers.
  • Perform any other task, assignment, duty, or project requested by management.

Desired

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written).
  • Ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Pass CP USA’s Basic Electrical and Controls Theory.

    Operational knowledge of multimeter functions, pressure calibrators, process meters, soldering wires, connectors.
  • Experience with flow, pressure, level, and temperature instrumentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting relay logic with drawings and motor/valve control logic.
  • Experience wiring and troubleshooting loop‑powered and isolated 4‑20 mA control systems.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, including ladders.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel overnight approximately 25 % of the time.
  • Experience with PLC programming (plus).
  • Familiarity with wastewater and water treatment controls, radio/cellular telemetry systems, antenna mast rigging principles (plus).

Physical Requirements:

The employee frequently talks, hears, uses hands and fingers, reaches, drives, sits, stoops, climbs, and stands. The employee must lift or move up to 50 pounds and work in both indoor and outdoor conditions.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an MVR check.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
