Brief

Job Description

Under the direction of the Community Health Improvement Manager, performs routine public health services in assigned counties. Collaborates with schools, local health agencies, non‑profit organizations, health advisory boards, private physicians, and stakeholder coalitions to promote health and prevent disease and injury. Trains community stakeholders and staff in evidence‑based health promotion and health education strategies. Works under moderate supervision and may participate in disaster response or COOP activation.

Job Functions
  • Health Promotion / Community Activities – Work with communities to develop, implement, evaluate strategies to promote health and prevent disease. Provide technical assistance for community‑wide health promotion campaigns. Educate community on health issues, provide executive presentations and trainings, and support Title V population‑based services.
  • Program Implementation – Assist HSR 11 staff as a resource, disseminate information on public health issues, coordinate training courses, assist in team activities.
  • Planning – Assist in regional program planning, coordinate stakeholder meetings, track and maintain meetings, manage inventory, provide administrative support to Tobacco Prevention.
  • Data Collection – Collect assessment data, conduct public health system assessments, develop survey tools, prepare reports and studies.
  • Other Office Duties – Phone coverage, ordering supplies, filing reports, support multi‑agency coordination centers, disaster operations, and possible relocation due to all‑hazard events.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of social, economic, and public health issues; basic medical terminology; health education; program implementation.
  • Skill in public health work, gathering facts, reporting on interventions, using Access and Excel, preparing reports.
  • Ability to implement policies, interpret laws, maintain relationships, communicate effectively, train others, data collection, use MS Office suite, multi‑task, protect confidential info, present in English and Spanish.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications

National certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician through Safe Kids Worldwide is preferred; certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire.

Initial Screening Criteria
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Experience working with public, students, community members, or professionals.
  • Ability to work non‑regular hours and to travel overnight.
  • Minimum associate degree in a related field or equivalent college hours.
  • Two years of relevant work experience equals one year of college education (two‑year experience required).
