Job Overview

The shop foreman is a leadership role that requires a blend of technical expertise and strong management skills to ensure the efficiency and quality of a tire and mechanical shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team and workflow management:
    • Assign and schedule work to technicians, ensuring fair distribution.
    • Provide technical guidance and support for complex issues.
    • Train and motivate staff, conduct performance reviews.
  • Quality control:
    • Inspect in-progress and completed repairs to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
    • Perform quality checks, such as road-testing vehicles.
    • Minimize re-repairs by identifying and addressing quality issues.
  • Safety and compliance:
    • Enforce safety regulations and promote a safe and clean working environment.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including warranty and service policies.
  • Administrative duties:
    • Manage and maintain service records, including work orders and repair logs.
    • Monitor parts inventory and assist with ordering supplies.
    • Prepare job orders, estimates, and other necessary paperwork.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of automotive and tire systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical problems.
