Overview
This is a full-time Monday - Friday 8am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The position supports the McAllen location (1901 S 2nd St, McAllen, Texas 78503). This position can be a Level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Level 1: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred; RN state license and current registration; 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology;
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. - Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements): 3-5 years nursing experience;
Oncology certification preferred. - Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements): Five years nursing experience.
