Sprinkler Construction Foreman Responsibilities

  • Installation of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment
  • Lead, oversee, direct, and delegate tasks to fitters and helpers to meet project deadlines and scheduling requirements
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner, aiming to stay under budget
  • Ensure flawless execution of all projects
  • Work independently on projects
  • Use project drawings to interpret installation requirements accurately
  • Update daily installation progress notes on job contract drawings (asbuilts)
  • Communicate change orders to the fire sprinkler manager or project manager for approval before implementation
  • Thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, lay out, maintain a clean work area, and use appropriate equipment such as tools and lifts
  • Present weekly toolbox talks to employees
  • Provide a safe working environment for employees
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Submit accurate timesheets with job numbers, OT, travel pay, and support transition to electronic submission
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate and professional with required signatures
  • Proper inventory management – review, update, and approve packing slips; manage material timely
  • Maintain equipment (trucks, lifts, tools) properly
  • Keep job sites clean and organized
  • Ensure production efficiency – monitor budget vs. actual labor hours and communicate proactively with superintendent
  • Adhere to company SOPs – purchase orders, change orders, etc.
  • Timeliness – arrive on time, attend, communicate with supervisor, submit paperwork
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and respond to survey feedback for improvement
  • Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers
  • Teamwork – maintain positive interactions within the team and local office
  • Actively participate in required team meetings
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town or on‑call as needed
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication, materials, and joining methods
  • Understanding of fire protection installation requirements
  • Ability to read fire protection blueprints
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • AFSA training program for fire sprinkler foreman preferred
  • NICET II & III certification preferred
Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years as a Fire Sprinkler Foreman leading small teams
  • Minimum 3 years as a fire sprinkler apprentice/fitter preferred
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to take direction from upper management
  • Accurately complete and maintain all paperwork
  • Maintain vehicle and tools per company policy
  • Valid state driver's license and good driving record
  • Self‑motivated, ambitious, interactive, communicative, detail‑oriented, organized
  • Knowledge of NFPA 13 rules and codes
  • Professional and positive communication with trades, customers, project managers, county officials, general contractors
  • Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and mentorship
