Overview

SMRMC Full Time 1801-Medical Lab Tech-7010 Lab at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

• Lab Certification Required.
• Performs laboratory procedures as part of the laboratory process and ensures safety of procedures.
• Follows departmental procedures and policies that reflect the services provided by the laboratory.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instruments.
• Assigned up to 40 hours a week with rotation between day and night shifts according to the unit and staff needs.
• Performs routine technical tasks to support test results; sets up for testing, adjusts, calibrates, and maintains equipment.
• Collects and prepares samples, solutions and specimens; ensures safe disposal of waste.
• Adheres to approved policies, procedures, and regulations; works professionally with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
• Addresses problems with instruments independently; does not rely on others to resolve issues.
• Assists with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit.
• Willing to perform any duty within the scope of a Medical Technologist as requested by the laboratory manager or director.

• Lab Certification Required.
• Must be able to set up for testing, adjust, calibrate, and maintain equipment.
• Must be able to collect and prepare samples, solutions and specimens and ensure safe disposal of waste.
• Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
• Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is non-negotiable and the employee is responsible for arranging and attending sessions.
• Must be willing to perform any duty within the scope of a Medical Technologist as requested by the laboratory manager or director.
