Under the general supervision of the Director of Radiology, the technologist operates imaging equipment to safely produce diagnostic images of various anatomical body parts for evaluation and interpretation by the radiologist. The technologist must work and relate in a professional, non‑defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. They are expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the Radiology Department and SMRMC Health Systems.
The technologist is also responsible for assisting with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit. As determined by the Director of Radiology, the technologist will be assigned an 80‑hour per pay period, or PRN hours, and must also work rotating shifts of on‑call hours. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and the responsibility of the technologist/employee to arrange and attend sessions.
