Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for patients as they are admitted and discharged from the facility. The nurse will rotate between weekends and holidays according to the needs of the facility. The RN is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
The role requires independent functioning in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical floors, and telemetry floors. Assignments are based on current staffing needs. The RN must work and relate in a professional, non‑defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include documenting total care given, reviewing and maintaining patient charts per policy, and assisting with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
The successful candidate must pass a pharmacology test for this position. Attendance to yearly mandatory Education and Healthstream requirements is non‑negotiable and the employee is responsible for arranging and attending sessions. The RN collaborates frequently with the CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, staff, physicians, administrators/assistants, and other ancillary departments to promote teamwork. The employee must maintain all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
