Job OverviewUnder general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for patients as they are admitted and discharged from the facility. The nurse rotates between ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical floors, and telemetry floors as determined by staffing needs. The nurse functions independently within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
The nurse is expected to collaborate with the CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, physicians, administrators, peers, home health, outpatient clinics, and ancillary departments, promoting teamwork across the facility. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is non‑negotiable and the nurse is responsible for arranging and attending these sessions.
- Coordinate patient care using the nursing process.
- Rotate between ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical floors, and telemetry floors as determined by staffing needs.
- Document total care given, review and maintain patient charts, and assist with accurate, timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
- Collaborate frequently with CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, physicians, administrators, peers, home health, outpatient clinics, and ancillary departments.
- Promote teamwork between staff, physicians, home health, and the hospital‑owned outpatient clinics and all other ancillary departments.
- Attend yearly mandatory education requirements and maintain all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
- Must pass a pharmacology test for this position.
- Must maintain current nursing certifications and licensure as required by the state and organization.
- Professional, non‑defensive manner of working with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
- Ability to function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical floors, and telemetry floors.
