Hospital Wide Depts. Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for patients as they are admitted and discharged from the facility. As determined by the Nurse Manager, the nurse will rotate between weekends and holidays according to the needs of the facility.
The nurse is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. The Registered Nurse will be expected to function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical floors, and telemetry floors. Assignments will be made based on current staffing needs.
- Coordinate total patient care and education during admission and discharge.
- Document total care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
- Collaborate frequently with the CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, staff, physicians, administrators, assistants, peers, and visiting ancillary departments.
- Assist as directed in problem solving by promoting teamwork among staff, physicians, home health, hospital‑owned outpatient clinics, and other departments.
- Maintain a professional, non‑defensive demeanor when interacting with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
- Participate in yearly mandatory education requirements and Health Stream courses; arrange and attend sessions as required.
- Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Mississippi.
- Must pass a pharmacology test for this position.
- Maintain all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
- Ability to work independently in multiple units (ICU, CVSU, ED, medical‑surgical, telemetry) and adapt to shift rotation including weekends and holidays.
- Strong documentation skills and proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
