Overview
The Security Officer safely performs all duties related to security. The Security Officer position is for a person trained and willing to perform security and patrol related duties. Will be responsible to patrol areas of hospital, Southwest Outpatient Clinics, Southwest Outpatient Rehabilitation and Mississippi Cancer Institute buildings, parking lots, and grounds to assure security and prevent damage or loss of organization and /or employee property.
The security officer is expected to intervene and subdue patients, visitors, or employees during episodes of violent or irrational behavior. Must be experienced in the use of firearms and self-defense. May be assigned to monitor visitor flow at the security desk or watch security monitor system and report any unusual activities. May be required to pick up lab specimens and deliver mail/supplies.
Possesses ability to work independently after minimal directions and instructions. Must perform all duties in a reasonable and timely manner. Must be willing to be reassigned during shift according to security needs, workload, and staffing. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
