Bus Driver

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driving License with a passenger and school endorsement
• Must possess a valid driver’s card issued by the MS Department of Education
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

• Transport students over a specified route according to time schedule
• Comply with traffic regulations
• Provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest advantage for curriculum and extracurricular program
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions

• Drive a school bus safely and professionally
• Perform and properly complete daily pre‑trip inspections
• Comply with all traffic ordinances
• Comply with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation
• Participate in on‑site training
• Show proficiency in handling and maneuvering a school bus
• Be able to pass driver license checks run annually at a minimum; driver must meet these standards
• Pass State Skill Test and State Written Test
• Pass physical and drug test

This is not an exhaustive list of the duties for this position. Additional duties are performed by the individuals holding this position and additional duties may be assigned.

• Supervise students while transporting them
• Supervise bus monitor when one is assigned to the bus
