Diesel Service Technician - PMC-Brookhaven
Qualifications- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- A satisfactory driving record
- Valid MS Class "B" Commercial Driver's license with a "P" endorsement
- Must be ASE Certified or willing to obtain ASE certification in various areas of expertise
- Must have a license for certified mechanic and driver's license
- Reports to:
Transportation Director or Designee
Coordinates activities and workload to ensure district buses, vehicles and equipment are properly maintained.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assures adequate maintenance and repair records are maintained for district vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizes the Automated Fleet Management System.
- Recommends major equipment and vehicle replacements.
- Performs periodic bus inspections.
- Diagnoses, repairs, rebuilds and adjusts all vehicle systems.
- Maintains knowledge of repair components on all systems and operates shop equipment.
- Performs troubleshooting and related repairs on district vehicles.
- Maintains shop area and ensures tools are kept clean and safe.

Language Skills- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Skills and Abilities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Terms of Employment:
To be determined by the School Board of Education in compliance with the established job calendar.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy of evaluation of non‑classified personnel.
