Provides in‑home intervention to children and their families utilizing a skill‑based, solution‑focused model to help families adopt positive solutions to problems through the teaching of skills and behavioral techniques and accessing community resources and support.
Responsibilities- Adhere to policies related to safety and boundaries with service recipients.
- Attend safety and abuse risk management training as assigned.
- Follow procedures related to managing high‑risk activities and supervising service recipients.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with families and community service resources.
- Provide screening and assessment to determine program eligibility and identify areas to address in the service plan.
- Provide training and support in the development and utilization of functional skills to families.
- Assess problems and provide care to youth and families; monitor progress in attainment of predetermined goals with regular updates to service plans.
- Provide outreach and prevention services, including increasing community awareness and offering informational and educational programs.
- Maintain appropriate level of direct contact with families per program requirements, and remain available 24/7 for crisis intervention.
- Provide training to consumers and school personnel in managing difficult behaviors.
- Promote family self‑determination by assisting families in accessing community services and resources.
- Educate families on maintaining good physical health and preventive health care.
- Assist families in building on their spiritual and religious beliefs or practices.
- Promote a culture of professionalism through role‑modeling and respect.
- Meet with families and children at various locations; utilize personal vehicle for travel.
- Prepare and submit reports on case load status, budget requests, and other program documentation.
- Report critical incidents involving family members or staff per standard guidelines.
- Prepare documentation and service plans in a timely manner.
- Implement feedback from supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, program, and accrediting body standards.
- Notify supervisor of changes affecting job status or compliance.
- May be trained as a certified Common Sense Parenting instructor and conduct courses as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an associate degree and 2 years of experience may be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and families.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
- Ability to provide own transportation; mileage reimbursed.
- Meet auto insurance requirements established by Boys Town policy.
- Availability for crisis response; willing to work non‑traditional hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Potential requirement for bilingual skills based on business needs.
- May be trained as a State Approved Family Team Decision Meeting or Youth Transition Decision Making Facilitator, and conduct meetings as assigned.
- Certification or licensure may be required per site location and contract requirements.
- Experience working in community‑based programs or Boys Town Programs.
- Ability to serve as a role model reflecting Boys Town values and principles.
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed.
Reasonably expected to maintain strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful situations, including physical interventions and escorts, in both indoor and outdoor settings, and under varying weather conditions.
