OverviewThis position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. This work includes, but is not limited to, machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.
Essential Functions- Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment
- Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools
- Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition
- Perform planned maintenance activities, such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, and install electrical equipment
- Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors
- Operate, use, and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machines to repair or fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools
- Foster professionalism with all associates and customers
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices
- Participate in peer-based teams and lean initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing and 5-S)
- Participate on project teams and kaizen events as needed
- Attend and participate in required training
- 2-year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in manufacturing preferred
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Sound decision-making skills
- Good math, reading, and writing skills
- Ability to exercise continuous mental, visual, and auditory attention
- Basic computer skills
- Vision: near acuity and accommodation for reading information
- Attention to detail and alertness to surroundings and product quality
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and hoist if needed
- Ability to operate material handling equipment
- Work in hot and cold temperatures; outdoor work
- Standing for extended periods; occasional lifting and handling tasks
- Work at heights above ground level; bending, twisting, reaching, and other movements required
- Pre-employment screening
- Willingness to work on weekends as required
- Report directly to Facilities Specialist
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve process and equipment issues
- May involve high noise levels and exposure to moving machinery, dust, fumes, and safety hazards
- Requires safety equipment such as steel-toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing
- Subject to flexible hours and potential overtime
