Position: General Maintenance (Weekend Shift)

Position Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. This work includes, but is not limited to, machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.

Essential Functions

Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment

Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools

Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition

Perform planned maintenance activities such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, and installing electrical equipment

Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors

Operate, use, and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary

Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools

Foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers

Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment; notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices; report all safety and environmental incidents immediately

Department Specific / Non‑Essential Functions

Participate in peer‑based teams and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S

Participate on project teams, star point teams and kaizen events when needed

Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role

Minimum Requirements

Education
: 2‑year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred
Experience
:
Previous experience in manufacturing preferred
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Sound decision making skills
Good math, reading and writing skills
Ability to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention
Skills/Competencies
Basic computer skills
Vision: near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks
Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail
Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed
Physical Requirements
Operate material handling equipment
Perform work in hot and cold temperatures
Includes outdoor work
Work at heights above ground‑level
Lift/Carry: up to 10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs, 21‑50 lbs
Bending, Twist/Turn, Reach Below Knee, Push/Pull, Squat/Kneel, Stand/Walk, Sit, Lifting Above Shoulders, Use of Hands and Fingers (continuous 67‑100%)

Organizational Relationships / Scope

Report directly to Facilities Specialist
Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with processes & equipment

Working Conditions

The employee may be subject to:

High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
Exposure to nuisance fumes and dust

Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high‑visibility clothing)

Standing is required for extended periods; walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting are performed on a regular basis

Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which may be performed under restrictive conditions

Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime

The employee may be required to follow other job‑related instructions and perform other job‑related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
