SummaryTeaching facility seeks a Kindergarten associate for our small classroom. This position is not remote. Working 32 hours per week, with a maximum of 35 hours per calendar school year. Hours will not extend. Only candidates selected will be contacted directly. Candidates must have experience with learners who possess full‑scale “average intelligence” who may learn differently. Position requires a clean personal background, driving history, and criminal background check, and maintain a professional demeanor while working with staff, students, and parents at all times.
Salary range based on experience. The associate works with children ages 5‑6 and will also engage with other students in a P‑12 environment. The candidate must have a professional demeanor and be able to get along with staff, children, and families. Education or experience of at least 2 years providing direct academic support in the classroom with “high functioning” students is required.
A certificate in Early Childhood Education (CDA, Diploma, or TCC) with a minimum of 2 years of direct child care is required. If a current college student at an accredited university system, active coursework must be in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
- Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students
- Read books to entire classes or small groups
- Prepare students for later grades by encouraging exploration of learning opportunities and perseverance with challenging tasks
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
- Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning activities and imaginative play
- Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula
- Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress
- Use computers, audio‑visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations
- Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development—games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities
- Organize and label materials and display students’ work
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required
- Administer standardized achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need
- Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers
- Involve parent volunteers and older students in children's activities to facilitate involvement in focused, complex play
