Industrial Maintenance Technician – Georgia-Pacific LLC
Georgia‑Pacific is looking for safety‑oriented individuals to join our team as a Maintenance Technician in our climate‑controlled facility in McDonough, GA.
Salary- Starting pay is $31.50 – $36.50 per hour
- Shift differential: $1.00 per hour for hours between 7 pm and 7 am
- Potential for increased compensation based on skills and contribution to plant performance
- Eligible for Performance Pay program offering up to a 6% quarterly bonus
- Facility works a Dupont schedule with rotating 12‑hour shifts (6:45 am‑7 pm and 6:45 pm‑7 am)
- Employees work both shifts on a rotating basis; days off between night and day rotations
- Only candidates able to work this schedule will be considered
- McDonough operates on a point‑based attendance program
Georgia‑Pacific’s Mailers is part of the Packaging and Cellulose business. The Mailers business is expanding its product lines and working with key customers to launch new products.
The Maintenance Technician will perform scheduled, preventive and unscheduled maintenance to ensure machine reliability.
What You Will Do- Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Perform predictive precision maintenance to identify and correct mechanical/electrical defects before machine failure
- Maintain operations equipment to achieve optimal performance and meet customer demands
- Collaborate with operations associates to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines and actively participate in the safety program
- Help meet or exceed production, waste, and quality goals through a quality maintenance program
- Five (5) years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting practices
- Proficient with hand and power tools (calipers, torque wrenches, voltmeters, impact wrenches, bearing pullers, infrared thermometers)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals
- Available to work rotating 12‑hour shifts, with a 7‑day break in every 28‑day period
- Associate's Degree in an industrial maintenance field
- Advanced understanding of high‑voltage equipment (480 V+)
- Advanced maintenance and project leadership experience
- Controls troubleshooting experience
- Paper or corrugated maintenance experience
Physical Requirements
- Strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
- Capacity to lift, walk, climb, stoop, stand, push and/or pull for up to 12 hours a day in a loud/noisy, high‑volume environment
