The Production Manager is responsible for the overall plant performance by providing effective direction, follow-up, training and supervision. Responsible for managing production operations consistently to achieve company goals of satisfying customer requirements within government regulations and for meeting facility goals in the areas of safety, quality, service, productivity/cost, and morale.

• Manages overall facility deliverables including staff performance and production goals to meet World Class standards (quality, safety, cost, sanitation, productivity, efficiency, morale). Resolves production issues on all three shifts as they arise.
• Maintains facility labor standards. Assures appropriate staffing levels for efficient operations through hiring, training, cross training and scheduling employees. Assists in the preparation of the weekly crewing schedule.
• Adheres to and administers fairly and consistently all facility policies.
• Supervises and insures employees follow proper GMP’s, Lock-out/tag-out, HACCP, SQF, HAZCOM and other safety criteria.
• Works with other departments to coordinate production activities and accomplish plant goals.
• Communicates daily with shift supervisors and shift superintendents to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Serves as a point of contact and reliable resource for all employee and team needs including timely and meaningful follow-up to all questions, concerns & ideas, and being visible, accessible, and approachable in the eyes of employees.
• Identifies area-specific process improvement activities including identification of opportunities, project planning and execution.
• Conducts performance management and individual skill development of the Superintendents and other employees as determined.
• Verifies attendance points and generates attendance corrective actions.
• Provides direct or follow-up assistance related to disciplinary actions and resolution.
• Identifies opportunities to increase the team’s effectiveness including specific skill training (SPC’s, Root cause analysis, etc.), goal setting, facilitating effective team meetings, to include rewarding and recognizing the team’s progress.
• Addresses and resolves conflicts within the teams or between individuals.
• Provides leadership by demonstrating a positive, respectful, resilient and results oriented approach.
• Assists with the implementation of new products and/or processes as needed.
• Works with other department managers, supervisors, and employees to minimize downtime, waste, and equipment failures.
• Ensures accuracy of daily production results and data entry into Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
• Approves time off requests for Supervisors and Superintendents.
• Tracks and reports production incidents and food safety incidents including documentation, investigations, and corrective action to prevent future incidents.
• Assists with plant trials and coordination activities.
• Works weekends as needed to provide direction and assistance with production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, and shipping and is available for all shifts to address production issues and concerns.
• Serves as a backup for the Plant Manager as needed.

Required:

• HS diploma or equivalent, SPC training / knowledge

Preferred:

• BA/BS in Food Science, Engineering,…
