Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full‑time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in McDonough, GA.

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700 total)
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter
  • Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday. Weekends OFF.
  • Hours:

    First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake/tire work, etc.)
  • Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers as needed
  • Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required (e.g., service island support)
Requirements / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification and/or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance
  • Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years
  • Additional customer‑specific screening may be required
