Description
This role works every other weekend on the day shift 7am to 7:30pm. Under RN supervision, performs basic patient care activities, upholds NM’s Code of Ethics and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs, blood glucose, and record intake/output.
- Assist patients with bathing, grooming, eating and daily activities.
- Report abnormal findings to nursing staff.
- Maintain patient rooms clean and orderly.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and multitasking under stress.
- Use critical thinking to prioritize and complete unit work quickly.
- Act as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
- Answer telephone, intercom and call lights politely with proper etiquette.
- Manage overall unit workflow with charge RN or assistant manager.
- Perform pre‑census and validate daily admission, discharge, census lists as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed one clinical rotation as nursing student.
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical.
- CPR – Basic Life Support.
- Physical demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Graduate of accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course.
