Position Overview

The Strategic Marketing Lead is a forward‑thinking marketing leader responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that strengthen our brand, support sales, and deepen relationships with library customers nationwide. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution across two connected markets: school libraries and public libraries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for both the school and public library segments to drive growth and retention.
  • Partner with business leaders to align marketing plans with overall company goals, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with product management to shape product roadmaps based on customer and market insights.
  • Lead positioning, messaging, and go‑to‑market strategy for key products, services, and brand initiatives across both markets.
  • Champion a unified brand identity while tailoring communications to the unique priorities of each audience.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all marketing inquiries related to school and public libraries.
  • Prepare and present marketing plans, actions, and outcomes to leadership.
  • Use data and research to understand customer behaviors and inform strategy.
  • Champion the development of marketing campaigns that drive awareness, demand, and loyalty across channels (email, web, events, social, PR, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with lead generation, creative, and communications teams to execute campaigns.
  • Lead launch plans for new products, services, and features.
  • Ensure a consistent, high‑quality customer experience through all asset development.
  • Oversee all asset creation, ensuring brand standards and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain dashboards to track marketing effectiveness and ROI.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer success, product, operations, and events teams to enhance customer experience.
  • Support executive communications and thought‑leadership initiatives that reinforce our market leadership.
  • Manage budget, forecasts, and related reporting to ensure revenue and expenses meet or exceed budget.
  • Evaluate and manage freelancers or contractors as needed.
  • Identify future growth areas, estimate investment needed, and communicate results to senior leaders.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, ideally in education, publishing, libraries, or related sectors.
  • Proven success managing strategic marketing across multiple customer segments or business lines.
  • Strong understanding of library systems, educators, literacy trends, and book‑buying workflows.
  • Experience translating insights into actionable marketing strategies and measurable results.
  • Track record of launching new products and growing brand presence in existing markets.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to leverage data to develop strategies.
  • Project management experience managing multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast‑paced environment and be intellectually curious.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to inspire cross‑functional teams.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage ambiguity.
  • Experience in product marketing or e‑commerce desirable but not required.
