Position Summary

The Plant Engineer is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for maintaining and improving plant equipment, facilities, and overall reliability. This role is focused on mechanical troubleshooting, equipment optimization, maintenance leadership, and driving operational efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

Key Roles / Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to production and maintenance teams, ensuring reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of process equipment to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee the Maintenance Department, supervising the Maintenance Supervisor and ensuring preventive and predictive maintenance programs are executed effectively.
  • Install, commission, and start up new or modified equipment and facilities, ensuring systems meet safety and performance standards.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment performance, process safety, and plant efficiency.
  • Manage maintenance and reliability budgets, monitor expenditures, and coordinate vendor and contractor support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, driving a strong culture of safe work practices.
  • Support upgrades to electrical and control systems to enhance reliability and plant operability.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support for urgent plant issues.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (preferred) with 2+ years of hands‑on engineering or maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process equipment, with demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
  • Field‑oriented engineer with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
  • Experience supervising or supporting maintenance teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer‑based maintenance systems.
  • Working knowledge of process control systems and equipment reliability practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with potential to grow into operations or supervisory roles.
Working Conditions
  • Physical activities include bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, squatting, crouching, and working in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
  • The essential duties require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Exposure to moderate noise, vibrations, bright lights; dust, fumes, gases; varied climate conditions (hot/cold, humidity, rain, snow).
  • Use of protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats is required.
  • Ability to perform tasks with frequent interruptions and independent judgment.
  • Effective verbal communication on phone and with coworkers.
