Why should you consider this role?- Eligible staff will receive a 20% differential on top of their hourly rate for working the weekend program (48 weekends per year).
- This is a full-time position but only requires you to work 24 hours per week.
- Eligible participants in the weekend program must work 48 weekends per year, 24 hours per weekend (either two 12 or three 8 hour shifts) between the hours of Friday 3 pm and Monday 7 am.

- Also, this position is eligible for a generous sign‑on bonus:
- Medical Lab Technician – $10,000 for a 2‑year commitment
- Medical Laboratory Scientist – $15,000 for a 3‑year commitment
Applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education.
- Medical Lab Technician salary range: $22.12–$32.13/hr.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist salary range: $27.78–$36.58/hr.
Provide for the accurate performance of routine and STAT laboratory analytical methods. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and in the evaluation of a patient's response to treatment. Apply competent clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical testing which leads to quality patient care outcomes. Work with and under Medical Lab Scientist's supervision.
Responsibilities- Interact with all laboratory customers professionally. Respond to telephone inquiries courteously and in a timely manner. Practice pleasant communications both internally and externally.
- Adhere to all established laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, methods, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and personnel policies. Follow established procedures for the collection (including phlebotomy, as required) and processing of specimens for analysis, including the appropriateness and stability of the sample. Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures according to established protocols with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
- Recognize critical, abnormal and unacceptable test results and follow up according to established protocols. Recognize factors that affect measurements and results and initiate the necessary corrective action according to established protocols. Identify problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results and take action as outlined in predetermined protocols.
- Process specimens for analysis. Enter accurate patient demographic information and laboratory test orders into the laboratory information system while ascertaining adequacy of patient information and sample integrity.
- Independently perform moderately complex or waived tests (qualitative and quantitative). Perform high complexity testing only with the oversight of a Medical Lab Scientist or with result review by a Supervisor or Manager.
- Meet established testing protocols for precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner. Recognize critical, abnormal and unacceptable test results and follow up according to established protocols.
- Perform and document quality control according to established protocols. Inform supervisory personnel and/or pathologists of any unusual or problematic incidents.
- Operate and maintain equipment within the scope of training utilizing defined schedules and written instructions to perform quality control checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration. Perform minor repairs. Use reagents and supplies cost‑effectively; monitor and maintain an appropriate supply inventory.
- Monitor and maintain supplies for functions the position is responsible for; use materials and reagents cost‑effectively.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and independent judgment. Recognize priorities to accommodate department needs and acceptance of appropriate authority.
- Follow all biohazard, chemical, and sharps safety guidelines. Maintain a safe work environment.
- Honor confidentiality of patient information. Follow all compliance guidelines.
- Assist with the training and orienting of new employees, students and residents, using established competency and workstation operational guidelines.
