Position: Unit Secretary

Location: Select Specialty Hospital – McKeesport (inside UPMC McKeesport)

Schedule: 7a-7p, Day Shift

Compensation: $17.84 - $24.00 per hour, plus shift differentials for nights and weekends

• Use independent judgment to provide clerical services to the patient care units, including correct transcription of orders, filing of all reports and arranging for transportation and follow‑up/outside tests.
• Answer the telephone, take and deliver messages by phone or verbally.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies, as needed, from Materials Management.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Appropriately transcribe and flag orders from charts.
• Arrange for the transport of patients for tests that are not offered in the hospital.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with medical files and terminology.
