Job Description
The Collin County Clerk is actively seeking a candidate to fill the position of Deputy County Clerk I – Criminal Front Counter. This position will assist with a high volume of customers and attorneys at the Criminal customer service window as well as perform clerical and administrative duties, to include answering busy multi‑line phones and general questions from the public. Duties include heavy filing and entering criminal case information into case management database;
issuing and processing cash bond releases and subpoenas and accurately entering this information in the database. Responsibilities also include processing judgments and sentences and filing documents into files daily as well as preparing and processing payments for court fines and fees, preparing receipts at front counter and from mail deliveries in addition to processing letters of representation, undeliverable notice to appear and inmate correspondence.
This position will be responsible for handling large amounts of money, accurately preparing deposits for the bank, verifying reports and end‑of‑day balancing.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical or office processes. Must have the ability to perform basic data entry and scanning functions with accuracy and attention to detail and have strong customer service skill set. Must possess good organizational and communication skills and be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
High school diploma or equivalency and the ability to type at a rate of 35 words per minute is required. No experience required.
Testing RequirementsThis position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.
- If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.
- If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test in order for your application to be complete.
Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
