Job Description: As an English Reading and Writing Tutor, you will provide individualized instruction and support to High School students preparing for the SAT and ACT. Your role will involve enhancing students' reading comprehension, writing skills, and overall test-taking strategies to help them achieve their highest possible scores.
Responsibilities- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions focused on SAT and ACT reading and writing sections.
- Develop customized lesson plans and practice exercises tailored to each student's strengths and areas for improvement.
- Teach strategies for critical reading, essay writing, and grammar usage.
- Provide feedback on practice essays and reading passages, highlighting areas for improvement.
- Monitor and assess students' progress and adjust tutoring methods as needed.
- Offer guidance on test-taking strategies, time management, and stress reduction techniques.
- Stay updated on SAT and ACT test formats, scoring, and changes in test content.
- Master's degree in English, Education, or a related field. A Doctorate degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching high school students, preferably with a focus on SAT and ACT preparation.
- Strong knowledge of SAT and ACT reading and writing content and test formats.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a supportive and motivating learning environment.
- Patient, organized, and able to adapt to individual student needs.
- Experience with test prep companies or educational institutions.
- Familiarity with SAT/ACT prep materials and resources.
- Ability to track and analyze student progress using various assessment tools.

Hours:
Saturday–Sunday (8:30 am‑1:00 pm)
Work Location:
In person (McKinney/Plano)
