Sr. Investment Accountant, FP&A Analyst (Hybrid) – Globe Life

This role combines investment accounting and FP&A to deliver financial insights and reporting for Globe Life’s $20B investment portfolio, including fixed income, alternatives, and equity. The position requires collaboration across Investments, FP&A, and IT to drive analysis, reporting, and process improvements.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and implement financial models for scenario planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Analyze investment data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for Globe Life subsidiaries. Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for subsidiary boards, financial reporting, and management. Partner with other departments to align financial plans with strategic objectives. Support evaluation of potential investments and acquisitions. Collaborate with IT to optimize data infrastructure and ensure data integrity.

Apply data modeling techniques to integrate investment accounting and FP&A datasets. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models to enhance insights and decision-making. Use programming languages such as Python or R to automate processes. Drive process improvements and automation initiatives in FP&A and reporting. Support end-to-end accounting and reporting for complex investments across multiple subsidiaries, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies during daily processing. Update portfolio pricing, ratings, factors, FX rates, and other security attributes. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Provide support to auditors, management, and other departments on investment accounting initiatives. Prepare quarterly and annual statutory statements, including audited statutory reports and regulatory surveys for assigned subsidiaries.

What You Can Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• CPA certification.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in investment accounting, FP&A, or a closely related field within financial services.
• Experience with complex investment portfolios similar in size to a $20B portfolio, including fixed income, equities, mortgage loans, and alternatives.
• Experience in a senior analyst or lead role with independent work and strategic contributions.
• Experience in a Big 4 or top consulting firm, or strong financial industry experience.
• Strong understanding of investment accounting, GAAP, and insurance regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC).
• FP&A expertise including forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
• Advanced analytical skills with ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Tableau, Power BI, Python, or R preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP/EPM systems; interest in automation and efficiency improvements.
