Position Description

As an employee of an independent advisor franchisee with Ameriprise Financial, you will assist financial advisors in working with clients to achieve their financial goals. You will help maintain smooth operations in a fast‑paced, friendly financial planning office, support client relationships, manage and analyze client data, prepare financial plans and deliverables, and coordinate practice management tasks such as client seminars.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily business operations and client relationship support.
  • Manage, gather, and analyze client data; prepare financial plans and other client deliverables.
  • Help clients resolve issues and perform practice management tasks as needed.
  • Respond to ad‑hoc requests, coordinate and track projects, and manage small business‑as‑usual projects such as organizing client seminars.
  • Develop and implement an annual marketing plan to meet client acquisition goals.
  • Contact prospects to set up meetings or appointments and coordinate seminars and client appreciation events.
  • Leverage market, client referral programs, and Center of Influence to drive new client acquisition.
  • Use website, social media, online client experience, client and prospect contact, referrals, networking, seminars, events, and local advertising to generate leads.
  • Identify and re‑engage clients for planning relationships.
  • Prepare for client meetings, gather and enter client data into the Financial Planning Tool Suite.
  • Create planning deliverables, perform case analysis, and develop recommendations.
  • Conduct or participate in client meetings to present recommendations and deliver advice.
  • Track and hold clients accountable to agreed actions.
  • Answer client questions and provide information related to servicing their accounts.
  • Marketing and Client Acquisition (approximately 20%)
    • Assess the client's risk tolerance, goals, and time frame.
    • Recommend portfolio/product solutions that fit client requirements.
    • Run illustrations and hypotheticals; develop appropriate product deliverables.
    • Persuade clients to act upon suitable advice/recommendations.
    • Execute trades to align with the proposed portfolio.
    • Monitor economy, markets, and world events for strategic rebalancing.
    • Manage wholesaler relationships.
  • Business Management & Client Care (approximately 15%)
    • Maintain client management system and schedule.
    • Write notes or letters to clients on personal letterhead.
    • Respond to emails and conduct transactions on behalf of clients.
    • Maintain files and records in accordance with retention policies.
  • Participate in daily stand‑up and weekly staff meetings, assign and delegate work, and provide feedback to support staff.
  • Act as a technical resource and provide training and support to other practice members.
  • Support compliance and provide guidance within the advisor's practice.
Education and Qualifications
  • College degree or higher.
  • 2+ years of similar experience.
  • Ability to meet with clients and present planning strategies.
  • Ability to source prospective clients.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative in business development and an entrepreneurial perspective.
  • Ability to recommend suitable investment products and services.
  • Success at planning and managing resources to run an optimal practice.
  • Adherence to rules and regulations required by the advisor and Ameriprise Financial.
  • Support and guidance for compliance within the advisor’s practice.
  • Current client database a plus.
  • Already have or be able to study for and pass Series 7, Series 66, and state life, accident, and health insurance licenses.
Education and Other Designations

College degree or higher; 2+ years of similar experience. Already have or be able to study for and pass federal and state securities licenses, including Series 7, Series 66, and state insurance licenses.
