Job Description
Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Nutritionist (WIC). This position performs nutritional assessments and makes diet recommendations by interviewing participants, obtaining blood samples, taking height and weight measurements and performing related tests, evaluating nutritional risk, and helping clients change their eating habits. Teaches nutritional classes and breastfeeding by promoting a supportive environment, presenting lessons, interacting with citizens, answering questions and determining participants’ understanding.
Performs other duties as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of a WIC Director.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with at least 18 semester hours (equivalent to a degree minor) in Nutrition, is required. Related degree fields include Nutrition, Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition Sciences, Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Community Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition. Previous WIC experience, as well as Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Lactation Consultant, or Certified Lactation is desired.
Applicants must have the flexibility to accept work assignments in our McKinney, Plano, Wylie, and Frisco Offices. Reliable transportation and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including 10 hour days, is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
This position is grant-funded and is currently funded through September 30, 2026
. The position is contingent upon the availability of grant funds and will be eliminated when funding is exhausted or no longer available. Continued employment is also contingent upon ongoing grant funding and will end if funding is discontinued or exhausted
